Ranakpur Hotel - Maharani Bagh Orchard Retreat Excursions

The Ranakpur Hotel - the Maharani Bagh Orchard Retreat - is a convenient base for visiting a number interesting sights nearby.

Ranakpur is one of the five pilgrimage places of the Jain community. Rana Kumbha laid down the foundation of Ranakpur in the 15th century. The main temple of Ranakpur is the Chaumukha (four faced) Temple, dedicated to Adinathji, the first Jain tirthankar. The temple has 29 halls and 1,444, all of them carved distinctly.

Rajsamand Lake was formed by a dam built in the 17th century. On the shore of the lake are stunning torans (arches), chhatris (cenotaphs) and a number of temples.

Ghanerao Royal Castle has now been converted into a hotel. Nearby the castle are the royal cenotaphs and a Jain temple dedicated to Lord Mahavira.

Kumbalgarh Fort, imposes itself on the lush green Aravalli Hills, Range, as a proud reminder of the past glory of this region. Built in the 15th century by Rana Kumbha, it is the second most important fort in Rajasthan after the Chittorgarh Fort. A huge 36 km long wall encircles the Kumbalgarh Fort that has seven majestic gates and ramparts one within the other.

The Badal Mahal or the Palace of the Clouds is the most beautiful palace inside the Kumbalgarh Fort. The highest of all the structures it offers stunning views over the surrounding countryside.

The Kumbalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of 586 sq km and has a sizeable wildlife population of panthers, sloth bears, four horned antelopes and scientifically bred crocodiles

The Mucchal Mahavir temple is in the Kumbalgarh Sanctuary and is known for its statue of Lord Mahavira with a mustache.. A number of colourful Garasia tribal villages are located nearby.

Sadri is famous for some beautiful temples and an old Dargah of Khudabaksh Baba.

Desuri has three temples, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and an old mosque which are all worth a visit. There is a temple dedicated to Parsuram Mahadeo, nestled in the hills close by.

Ghanerao abounds in Hindu temples. Most notable is the temple of Gajanand with a life-size statue of the goddesses Ridhi and Siddhi.

Narlai lies at the base of a small hill, on the top of which is a colossal statue of an elephant, Narlai has many Hindu Temples. The temple of Adinath is the most ancient. The outer mandap of the temple has beautiful mural paintings on its ceiling which still retain their original splendour.

Falna is the railhead for Ranakpur and also has some beautiful temples.
